Hello! I would love for you to be a part of the HS fall play! The fall play is Clue: On Stage (High School Edition) by Sandy Rustin!
Clue: On Stage (High School Edtion) by Sandy Rustin Summary: Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT! Broadway Licensing’s author-approved High School Editions are carefully curated to be made suitable for teenage actors and family audiences. These versions soften offensive language and sexual content while maintaining the integrity of the show and preserving the authors’ intent. We are proud to work with our authors and create opportunities for student actors to engage with relevant material in an age-appropriate manner. Characters: Wadsworth- A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play. Yvette- A French Maid, with her own secret aspirations. Miss Scarlet-A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam who is more interested in secrets than men. Mrs. Peacock- The church-going wife of a Senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria. Mrs. White- A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands. Colonel Mustard- A puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man. Professor Plum An academic Casanova who woos women with his big brain. Mr. Green A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious. THE COOK- A threatening presence. THE MOTORIST - A benign gentleman who rings the wrong doorbell. SINGING TELEGRAM GIRL - A cute, perky tap dancer. AN AGENT - An FBI agent who helps to save the day. MR. BODDY - A slick, James Bond-type fella. THE COP - A "Regular Joe." AN AGENT - An FBI agent who helps to save the day. Let me know if you have any questions! We will have a lot of fun!!! Thanks, Ms. Marks ![]()
You can see the giant white rabbit too, right?
GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL FALL PLAY, NOV. 11-13 Join us for the DA High School fall play Harvey by Mary Chase. Performances will be on Nov. 11, 12, and 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the DA Theater. Tickets are now available for purchase at DATheatre.com or email [email protected]. All audience members will be required to wear masks and seats are limited. A Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy by Mary Chase, Harvey is the story of a perfect gentleman, Elwood P. Dowd, and his best friend, Harvey — a pooka, who is a six-foot-tall, invisible rabbit. Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone he meets. His social-climbing sister, Veta, increasingly finds his eccentric behavior embarrassing and decides to have him committed to a sanitarium. When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues. In the midst of everything happening in our world right now, it is refreshing to meet a character like Elwood P. Dowd. At first, he might seem a little strange, but we discover that the world would be a much better place if we were all a little more like Elwood P. Dowd. Mr. Dowd is kind, earnest, honest, generous, and straightforward. He savors the moment, says what he means, and sees only the good in people. Elwood’s mischievous friend, Harvey the Pooka, shows us the importance of magic and lighthearted playfulness. With so much heaviness around us, we must remind ourselves to notice the simple joys and beauty we can find in our everyday lives. May you find time to stop and smell the Dahlias, listen to the jukebox, and “stop and watch the sunset and look at the birds flyin’.” Let’s take Elwood’s example: Let us enter this theatre as strangers and leave as friends. Thank you, Scott, my parents, friends, and family, for your unending support and for our happy adventures. Thank you so much for attending Denver Academy’s production of Harvey. “It's been very pleasant to meet you, and I hope to see you again.” Enjoy the show! Denver Academy's faculty and students continue to be creative with teaching and learning during the pandemic! Ms. Marks's High School Theater classes have joined together (virtually) this fall to present the hilarious radio play by Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
The science-fiction comedy radio series was originally broadcast in the United Kingdom by BBC Radio 4 in 1978, and afterward by the BBC World Service, National Public Radio in the U.S., and CBC Radio in Canada. Students and after-school volunteers brought the production to life by creating sound effects and voicing their parts. Laugh along on this adventure while we learn more about how to hitch a ride to places outside of this world! Check back often for new episodes! A class project for educational purposes only. Director's Note: I am very excited to present a play written by a strong woman, about strong women. Although this play is set in the 1920s, I find Radium Girls holds lessons and truths that apply to today’s world. This play is about standing up for what you believe is right, even when you might be standing alone. Grace shows that even against all odds, each one of us can make the world a better place. D.W. Gregory has written a play that shows the heart breaks, betrayals, losses, and joys of life and how those moments walk hand-in-hand to create a beautiful existence.

"Director’s Note: Thank you so much for attending Denver Academy’s production of Play On!. When I ask students why they enjoy theatre, I receive many different answers: they like the stories, they like to see what actors do when they mess up, and they think theatre is fun! Play On! highlights all those things. The joy of theatre comes from the playwright’s words, the director and actors’ interpretation, and the fun of working together to put on a show. And what a blast we had: we laughed at every rehearsal! We are excited to share a behind the scenes look of the hilarious happenings during theatre rehearsals and performances. May you have just as much fun watching the show as we did putting it all together! I am very grateful and want to express a very warm thank you to our community for your support of Denver Academy Theatre and theatre education. I thank the students for being part of the process of making theatre, and for your bravery and for your passion. It is a privilege to work with you.
