We learned and had so much fun this year at Thescon! We saw the productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Harvey. We attended workshops that included swing dancing, mime and illusion, accents, improv, monologue preparation, playwriting and more! And we were inspired by our keynote speaker, Ali Stroker from GLEE and Spring Awakening on Broadway. We had 7 acts from DA students that competed against 2000 other students from around the state. Congratulations Joel, Noah, Andrew, and Jack for qualifying for nationals! 

Congratulations to Andrew and Joel for qualifying for Nationals with their hilarious duet acting piece. Way to go Hannah for getting two callbacks from colleges! Trey and Jack, way to be awesome with competing this year with a duet musical piece! We had a blast this year: 18 students, heavy metal shakespeare, LED lighiting, Japanese Theatre, watching the Addams Family Musical, and many other exciting workshops and classes! Thank you to everyone who participated this year!

Denver Academy’s Thespian troupe annually attends the Colorado State Thespian Conference in downtown Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.  This year we were able to attend workshops where we were able to hone our skills and learn many new insights into the theatre world. Some workshops that students attended involved Irish dialects, salsa dancing, gore makeup, voice-projection techniques, storytelling through singing, playwriting, stage combat, and even a tour of the Buell Theatre! We also were able to watch other high school performances! The theme this year for the convention went hand in hand with what we have been talking about this year in our theatre: Theatre touches hearts and also opens minds. What a great experience and opportunity! Thank you for all the students who participated!
