Auditions for Fall Play: Clue!

9/5/2023

Picture
Hello!
I would love for you to be a part of the HS fall play!

The fall play is Clue: On Stage (High School Edition) by Sandy Rustin!
  • Auditions for Clue: On Stage is Monday, September 11 in the theatre at 3:30pm. You must have a one-minute monologue prepared and memorized to perform for me.
  • TECH: If you are interested in doing tech for the Fall Play, please stop by the call board (in the theatre building across from the bathrooms) and pick up a contract. Fill it out, sign it, have a guardian sign it, and return it to me by Sept. 13. Tech job list will go out at the same time as the cast list.
  • First rehearsal will be Monday, Sept 18 from 3:30-6:00pm. All tech and actors must attend the first rehearsal.
  • Rehearsals are after school from 3:30-6:30pm. PLEASE SEE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE ATTACHED!!! ****
    • IMPORTANT: If you are unable to consistently attend rehearsals/tech rehearsals due to prior commitments, Set Construction Crew has a lot more flexibility schedule-wise and would be a great option to be involved in the fall play! Please understand that attending rehearsals and tech rehearsals is an important part of theatre that helps prepare everyone for the show. When stage/prop run crew or an actor misses rehearsals, it puts a strain on the rest of the cast and crew. Please be honest about schedule conflicts and check with guardians about availability (show them the calendar attached to this post).
  • Performances are November 9, 10, 11 at 7:00 pm

Clue: On Stage (High School Edtion) by Sandy Rustin

Summary:
Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

Broadway Licensing’s author-approved High School Editions are carefully curated to be made suitable for teenage actors and family audiences. These versions soften offensive language and sexual content while maintaining the integrity of the show and preserving the authors’ intent. We are proud to work with our authors and create opportunities for student actors to engage with relevant material in an age-appropriate manner.

Characters:
Wadsworth- A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play.
Yvette- A French Maid, with her own secret aspirations.
Miss Scarlet-A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam who is more interested in secrets than men.
Mrs. Peacock- The church-going wife of a Senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.
Mrs. White- A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.
Colonel Mustard- A puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.
Professor Plum An academic Casanova who woos women with his big brain.
Mr. Green A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious.
THE COOK- A threatening presence.
THE MOTORIST - A benign gentleman who rings the wrong doorbell.
SINGING TELEGRAM GIRL - A cute, perky tap dancer.
AN AGENT - An FBI agent who helps to save the day.
MR. BODDY - A slick, James Bond-type fella.
THE COP - A "Regular Joe."
AN AGENT - An FBI agent who helps to save the day.

Let me know if you have any questions!
We will have a lot of fun!!!

Thanks,
Ms. Marks
